Banksia serrata
Native Australian tree grow to 3-10 meters. Grown as boundary trees, leaves are dark green, long and serrated. Silvery grey flowers produce woody bottle brush type seed heads in summer.

Ajuga reptans
Not native to NZ but this lovely green-purple leafed ground cover with its blue flowers is a an absolute delight. Flowers appear in spring and grow 10cms above the crinkly leaves that spread on the ground. They prefer shade and cooler conditions.

Silk Trees are deciduous and native to tropical and subtropical areas of Asia, Africa and Australia. Trees grow in height from 6-25 meters. They are noted for their very unusual foliage that folds up at night. They prefer full sun and protection from the winds. Clusters of small flowers form large global crowns similar to bottle brush.
